Lalita Abhyankar is a Board Certified Family Medicine Physician based in San Fransisco, CA.
She graduated from the University of Arizona College of Medicine- Tucson in 2014 with a distinction in Integrative Medicine. She completed her residency training in 2017 at the New York Presbyterian- Columbia Family Medicine Residency Program, where she served as Chief Resident during her third year and won the Family Medicine Resident Award for Advocacy. She also holds a Master in Health Sciences in Environmental Health from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.
She previously worked at the Institute for Family Health’s Cadman Family Health Center, a federally qualified health center in Brooklyn, NY. Most recently, she was a multi-clinic Medical Director and Primary Care leader for Carbon Health, a tech-empowered clinical start-up. In addition to her own holistic medical practice in Corte Madera, CA, she led multiple teams within primary care and urgent care encompassing clinicians from San Francisco, Marin, and Sacramento. Her clinical experience includes full spectrum outpatient family medicine, including but not limited to pediatrics, geriatrics, gender affirming care, prenatal care, postpartum care, mental health, menopause care, and HIV care.
She currently serves as a Board Member for the California Academy of Family Physicians, hosts a family medicine oriented technology podcast, is a Supervising physician and Board Member for Milagros Medical, and consults for various AI based tech companies in the Bay Area.
Her interests include health policy education through media and journalism. In 2021, she hosted and produced a podcast under the Health Affairs banner exploring the impact of consolidation in health care on independent primary care practices in the United States. She is involved in educating and mentoring medical students interested in family medicine as a specialty, and is a Volunteer Clinical Professor at UCSF.
Her goal is to develop practical, innovative tools that will facilitate primary care, improve physician wellness, and lead to a more equitable health care system. She is also passionate about storytelling as a form of advocacy.
